Someone chime in if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that FAA records include LOIs, accidents, incidents and violations. Check rides are not included in this. Airline training records go back only five years, and this is where a busted checkride would show up.
Also, I do remember it was proposed for the FAA to keep these listed items on record "forever", but never did hear a follow up or if it came to fruition. I am sure lawyers were all over that proposal.
