The real question is why are you so put off with being told not to wear your badge through customs, to the point of starting a thread about it? Put it in your pocket and walk away.

Chalk me up on the opposite side of the board from blastoff. I've been asked by CBP officers in the US for my ID, as I guess they can see in their computers something about your profession. They asked who I worked for, I explained and handed over my ID. No problem, I just don't feel like arguing with everyone I come into contact with. Same thing in AMS.....was asked about my employer by the security people at the gate, and they asked me for my ID. I just wear it through now and it hasn't been a problem. No need to rant. Everyone is different.
Well that's the other side of the coin...irregular procedures from place to place. You still don't need it, and they're not going to stop you if you traveled without it, although some companies require you to have it in possession when non-revving , so have it in your pocket, but CBP is not enforcing your company's pass policies.
