The guys left there were all Captains at one point and must have thousands of hours of total time and at least a decent amount of turbine PIC. Honestly 8+ years at a company to start all over on food stamp wages at a place that has the one of the worst if not the worst contracts in an industry segment full of horrific contracts.
The room is full of fat ugly chicks (regional industry), why go pick the fattest, ugliest, and loudest one around?
These are the people that held out at Comair for years passing up the opportunities that have existed over the last decade. Yes it has been tight but there have been plenty of opportunities for a qualified pilot to move out of the regionals. It bit them pretty hard.... they might not be that smart but they still do need a job.
