How long would it take to change that if every regional flight told the passengers just how much the FO makes? Probably fast, but the entire problem is that for 95% if them, having a 30k/yr flying job is far better than having a decent paying job, and with the large excess of pilots and people wanting to be pilots, the companies can be picky and not hire the ones that got fired.
