If it is all about AOA then why not ride the best lift/drag AOA or since full power is used Vy which is allways a little slower. Why is increasing induced drag beneficial here. I get what is going on while we are cashing in on exchanging that last little bit of airspeed for altitude in the hopes that we will fly out of the micro burst "quickly". I also get why you do not want to bring the flaps up because you are riding the shaker in all. It just seems to me that if Vy is BEST rate of climb why would you not want to stop there.
Perhaps I should just "shut up and do what I am told" as my last flight safety instructor told me when I asked her about it.

It would be if you had an AOA indicator in the cockpit.
Why there isn't.....I don't know.
There are other threads on the forum that rehash this.
I don't know about your airplane - but in the last airplane that I flew AOA in - an airspeed associated with Vy would not have been the L/D Max performance AOA.
