You make it sound so simple. You forget we have leases on the aircraft to go along with the CPAs. You really think the company can work out such a complex deal that would likely cost them thousands in penalties just to try and violate the TPA? Not to mention the fact if they did this, our union would sue the company and would win.

United isn't desperate to pull fifty seat feed like Delta. In fact, they just signed a 3 year CPA with Chatauqua for a few more ERJ's a few months ago. Since they can't (yet?) add more 70 seat feed, I don't see them renegotiating our ERJ contracts willingly.

On top of all this, the USAir CRJ's are irrelevant to this. Those airplanes are being flown at low rates because it's better than them sitting in the desert. It also shows that renegotiating leases is not as easy as you make it out to be.
