1. Is that per month or per year?
2. How about Drug Coverage (my wife has a chronic condition that requires some very expensive drugs even with coverage)?
For me, any money I might save (at best a hundred a month) could quickly be eaten up by any one thing (Drugs, Hospital or Doctor bills). I have run the numbers multiple times and it never seems worth the risk to save a small amount of money. Right now, I pay $183/month for my wife and myself on the Gold HRA and I have had NO other medical costs this year (in spite of, unfortunately, extensive use of insurance by both her and myself). For those of you doing better than that on other plans for a married couple I am happy that you are able to get your medical costs that low. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and I wish everyone the best of health to have no out of pocket expenses in any year at any time. I am blessed to have the coverage I have and thankful that both my wife's and my medical issues have not been a financial burden as we both work to return to full health. If anyone wishes more details with respect to our specifics in the hope that it might help someone else with their medical insurance needs please feel free to PM me and I would be happy to discuss it on a one-one basis. Good luck with everyone's choices on the medical front for the coming year.
