Flight ops would like to hire to smooth out the training and lower displacements. Last I heard the powers to be above flight ops are against that plan so I expect no hiring until next fall. The good news is that this was a net positive bid and starting with the next bid we will be staffing for the shift of over 1000 jobs from DCI to the mainline. Those bids will be ongoing for the next 3 years.
Except there are 857 pilots trained as well as we were,available to be hired, and every airline needs about, oh 5,532 outstanding pilots to replace their 5,532 outstanding (old) pilots retiring in the next 17 days.
