Should I bother to take this test ahead of time, or should I make sure that there's even a possibility before hand? I know theres a study book out there you can get on amazon, and was wondering before I hear back from the recruiters, if I should get a head start.

Why would there not be a possibility? Get that book and start studying. FYI, You can usually find them at the library as well.
