Robert Priddy left ASA to start Val-u-Jet in 1993, first real operations to speak of were 1994. Val-u-Jet changed its name to AirTran with the acquisition of "AirWays" corp in 1997. They were on the verge of being shut down by the FAA.

SWA was never any competition for Garrett. He had Eastern, under Lorenzo, to contend with. We won.

Leo Mullin went through Delta like Sherman through Atlanta. He burned our fields. We did not lose market to AirTran as much as we lost our own bearings as a Company by trying to outsource our core competency.

Make me President for a day ... I'll order CAP over our hubs ...
