Two scenarios:

1. If he returns before a JCBA, he would return with probation being waived based on a final determination made in Oct on the intent of the T&PA. He would also only have to complete one month (if your numbers are correct, see below) active at CAL then start on 2nd year pay based on their current pay scale (don't have that figure handy). In other words, he gets credit for the 11 months at UAL to get off first year pay. This was a recent development, but the math they'll use to come up with the actual 2nd year pay trigger will be based on UAL pay longevity which isn't date of hire, rather date of training completion on initial qualification (about 2 months difference from DOH on average).

2. If the TA is passed and he returns, then he'll get credit for 4 years of furlough and go to 5th year pay (based on LOA 25 in the TA) of the new pay scale.
