I was in the DTW crew lounge last month talking to an FO on RRR. He had been on line for about 2 months if I can remember correctly. He and another guy in there were telling me that during the interview and even through INDOC the company is telling them that upgrades are at 1.5-2 years. Something around there from what I remember. They were truly convinced of this. Kind of sad that the company has to push the lies one step further.
Any new guys care to chime in? What are they telling you?
Although 2 years to go through ~650 pilots is not impossible, the problem is they are painting a best case scenario to anyone who interviews right now. It's not unlikely, but they need more things to fall into place for that to happen (majors hiring, better economy, added contracts and block hours, etc). The thing we all forget is they spewed the same stuff to all of us when we were hired, remember them saying upgrade was 2 years and they were about to waive the company upgrade minimums?? 4-5 years later you still have FOs on reserve depending on their base and plane.
You can't fault them for painting a rosy picture, if they aired on the side of caution people would go over to RAH and there would be no one to push us slowly up the seniority list. It falls on the backs of the new hires to believe the drivel they hear in training. It's nice to see some positivity out of the Atech for once though, it's been a long 4+ years for everyone
