It is possible to get PDK out of the gate. Just ask at the interview if they are indeed looking for pilots to go there.
As far as reserve or a line...it is all unscheduled spur of the moment last second kinda flying. You're on an 8 on 6 off cycle. When you're on you will find out the night before what you are doing.Even mid cycle you will only know what's coming in the next 24 hours. The schedule is generally finalized the night before and edited throughout the coming day.
It is not uncommon to being sitting on standby in your hotel and then get called to do a bunch of flights. It is also not uncommon to have a day scheduled with 4 legs and the next thing you know you are sitting in an FBO on standby doing no flying that day.
