That's the point. I believe there is a basic level of knowledge required to assess and open a door in an emergency but there is no formal requirement for jumpseat access like there is for the Flightdeck. We have pages devoted to this in the FOM, which is overkill, but the point is there is a reason for limiting flight deck access. The AFA, and most line F/As have no idea what the regulations say. They parrot snippets of information given to them and the only real knowledge they have is what ever is given to them in their initial training program and any recurrent information they get yearly, which isn't much.

Allegiant was in the news recently because they are training company employees throughout their system to be flight attendents, evidently in case of some work stoppage. Their training program? 2 weeks.

Now, does all this matter for KCM? Only if the training and standards they have is poor. Do they have the background and knowledge to abide by the regulations set by the TSA? Since it is pretty much a self policing system there needs to be personal integrity in not taking advantage of the program. I see a lot more people on the back end side that I would not expect to hold to that standard. Any group of people will have the 10% ers. When you have 2 to 6 times the number of flight attendents versus pilots the potential for the number of 10%ers increases dramatically.
