BUT...there is a labor law exemption that permits a non-member for "personal religious beliefs" to pay the dues/service charge to a charity in lieu of the union. It is part of Federal Law (Title VII) which protects employees from religious discrimination in the workplace.

A quick google search of "union dues to charity" will provide links to all the anti-union organizations that would be thrilled to help out.
