I agree, though I apply it a tad differently. I never apologize for something I couldn't control, however I do apologize for the inconvenience.

I could take the Stanley Hudson (from the Office) technique: I don't apologize. If you don't like it, you can leave. That's what I told my ex-wife, tell my current wife, and will tell my future wives as well."
