I'd love to see it happen, however it would also have to depend on what we'd have to give in the negotiation to get them. Can't disagree here, except as someone already pointed out, Spirit is likely going to hit the DOT definition. Virgin America? Probably not since they're scaling back their growth.
When they become major airlines AND "destination airlines" then they should be in the peer set. I know the next question is "what is a destination airline". To me, that is when their pilots STOP submitting apps to Delta, United, SWA, UPS, FedEx, etc. (real major/destination airlines). They they become a place that the pilots do not leave to go to the major/legacy carriers, then they meet the "destination airline" criteria.
