How can I steer my rep on something he probably can't even confirm is happening. How do I know whether something is good, or bad, if I don't know what it is?
I trust my reps to do their best, but I think it's a little disingenuous to suggest any of us are failing to provide input on something this vague. I'd be pretty thrilled to read that I'm at least going to vote on the results.
You have any input on that? I don't need 500 words; a sentence will do.
Sanctimonious as in "hypocritically pious"? C'mon man.... You are taking quite a pessimistic view here.
I'm saying that we ALL need to read the applicable parts of the PWA.
(including me, I re-read those sections twice tonight....my Steelers already won so I had little else to do

).
You can still provide input to your reps even if it is theoretical.
I think that the language is there to read. I sincerely hope guys take the time to dig into it a little bit and then inform their reps on the "direction" they would like to see us take.
Obviously the detail work will be done in closed session and by the NC when applicable, but it is up to us to make our position known and what we'd like to see.
How else will the reps know they have a mandate from their constituents unless we give them one?
I don't get to sit in on the closed session briefs either, but I will make sure that I am as knowledgeable about the PWA as I can, and be equipped to take a logical, rational position on what I see happening.
My rep knows my stand on most issues. While he doesn't always necessarily agree with my perspective, I have influenced him to look at issues from perspectives he hadn't considered. MANY more times he has offered salient points that countered what I thought initially but were much better and well-thought out than what I had concluded, and thus changed my stance.
Sorry that was more than one sentence, I'm not into the whole brevity thing.
