That is why the decision to outfit Flight Ops with EFB's of any sort will be a decision that goes to the highest levels of DAL for funding approval. It also goes farther than just buying the darn devices. It also surrounds support, a device that supports modifications to our enterprise, has latitude from the maker and OS provider to make changes and to allow DAL the access to modify programs as needed.

Because of all of this and more, what a few hundred to a a few thousand pilots do with a ipad is totally inconsequential. To go live and see the real saving of the removal of all of those books in each jet, requires a corporate plan with a major expenditure not just on the devices but on the software and support. Buying our own may be offered but again it will be a short term solution to a hurdle not the final policy and plan.
Fair enough.

But I continue to be skeptical of the assertion that Flt Ops won't monitor our devices. If that's the case, why not change the EUA?

In any event, there is no way I'd ever buy a tablet to bail out Delta.
