That is why the decision to outfit Flight Ops with EFB's of any sort will be a decision that goes to the highest levels of DAL for funding approval. It also goes farther than just buying the darn devices. It also surrounds support, a device that supports modifications to our enterprise, has latitude from the maker and OS provider to make changes and to allow DAL the access to modify programs as needed.
Buying our own may be offered but again it will be a short term solution to a hurdle not the final policy and plan.
The word on the street is that apple doesn't want to cooperate with Delta nearly as much as Microsoft does. Microsoft would love to have us as a customer for their tablet and operating system. They would be more likely to allow us freedoms with the os that Apple will not. Microsoft also pointed out just how much they like to fly (read: continue to fly) on Delta Air Lines. FWIW, I will believe it when the tablet is in my hand monitoring my surfing habits.
