I'm not by any means condoning the destruction of someone else's property, but there's likely to be more to this. Had he reserved adjacent seats? Was his mother elderly or perhaps had a special need? Did JBU offer any compensation, or a refund, or anything, for the customer's lack of satisfaction?
I knew someone would bring up the 'but his mother is elderly' argument and that is fine. Personally I would given up my seat and taken the middle seat between the two models so this guy could sit next to his mother, or he stews in his seat during the flight and writes a scathing letter afterwards, BUT YOU DON'T BREAK FEDERAL LAW because you didn't get to sit next to your mother. PERIOD!
We have to be able to control our impulses to a greater degree.
