FWIW,

Why do we pilots have to always defend career decisions?
Everyone has a different family/personal situation, world view, values system etc,etc
We don't know until we retire or lose our medical if the various choices we made worked out or bit us.
I have worked for 2 "mainlines", they are both gone. I also know a gentleman who quit Federal Express during their dark days to go corporate. None of us has a crystal ball regarding a companies future.
So in short, perhaps we should all respect the drummer each individual hears.
