A great deal of pilots do not understand how regionals started. They had their own brand and sold seats. Mainlines would buy seats and revenue share those seats. So IF this is the case the industry is about to go full circle.
You are correct and in my opinion everything points towards things going back in that direction. I think Code Share is coming and probably sooner than we think. Silver and Delta already have a code share implemented to keep cheap turboprops flying routes that jets can't make money on without Delta putting their name on any of the flying. Delta doesn't even sell Silver Airways tickets...Island Air does.
