A memory item is something you are required to know immediately, before pulling the checklist, in a certain situation. Example would be:
Situation: Engine fire or failure in flight
Memory Item 1: Condition lever Fuel Cutoff
Memory Item 2: Propeller lever Feather
Memory Item 3: Firewall fuel valve Pull closed
Memory Item 4: Fire extinguisher Activate (if required)
