And that is really the most important part. It's a pilot shortage because no one wants to/can become a pilot. They can't because the cost to benefit is way out of control. If it was a true shortage, the flight schools would be jammed pack, buying new airplanes, paying instructors huge bonuses, etc. Since this is not the case, it's not really the kind of shortage that one thinks of. It's the "oh wow, they rant out of $200 40" LCD TVs at best buy for black friday"-shortage. Well no kidding, that wasn't a sustainable promotion and not viable to make money...
