Your chances are very good that you will get a CR9. The first 4 CR9's are MSP based. I have not seen an official "basing schedule" for the remaining aircraft. Some speculate that after 4, they will disperse evenly between MSP, DTW and MEM. It really depends on where NWA wants that lift. And I think until we get a couple of them here and flying, that won't be finalized. If you get here soon, you will be senior on the jet which will allow you to pretty much pick your base when they become available.
Commuting is definately possible, it is not fun, but possible. ATL has plenty of flights to anywhere, so you should have plenty of options.
Be yourself, be honest, be a real person. RELAX in the sim. Your scan is the most important thing in there. Don't have a death grip, and remember that you are in control of that "aircraft." Study the AIM and be confident, not cocky, about your goals, your flying and your life experiences. You will do just fine.
