It's likely more of a seniority problem than a staffing problem. Christmas fell in the middle of the week this month without many efficient lines so a lot of senior guys/gals that couldn't get weekends off and Christmas settled for weekends off and a sick call.
If you are talking about the ASA side this shouldn't be a problem at all. With PBS it is very easy to bid weekends off and Christmas off provided you can hold it. The credit windows were low enough that it was no problem getting into the window with 3 trips and maybe a partial one.
I too am laying at home sick......bummer
