Our MEC just put out an email explaining how the ASA MEC has said that any contract without flightline in it will not pass their vote. They have done this despite the two other parties involved explaining that flightline is not a reasonable request. The company would have it but with major sections of the current ASA scheduling section rewritten because it has not come close to its projected cost savings. Vacation low would be gone and the end product is an unknown quantity. Our MEC has researched pbs systems and found one that resolves almost every parties issues and yet because it does not have a flightline name it is not even an option. The ASA MEC has done next to zero research, is sticking their head in the sand hoping to save their current flightline system and workrules (management said no), and is unwilling to negotiate on anything that negatively affects the top 5% of pilots for the betterment of 95% of the combined pilot group.
So who is unwilling to negotiate now? Oh that was just the ASA MEC's trolls on here spouting lies. Keep up the smear campaign
So, the ASA MEC stated two major concerns about Smart Pref and made their concerns known as early as November of 2011. Those two concerns still remain and have been brushed off by the Smart Pref team. Can you name those concerns and what has been done to address them? Forgive us if we don't bite on the Smart Pref answer of 'it will work itself out in a live bidding environment'.
None of the ASA MEC members post here, so what lies are they spouting? I talk to my reps regularly and don't hear anywhere near the level of vitriol that you present or believe is present. I get frustration, but aren't you just stirring the pot more? The ASA pilot group likes Flightline so why shouldn't our MEC represent our interests?
So, you'll probably miss this and bite on the above paragraphs, but I like the idea of Smart Pref - I would like to see it work. My question is, how is it working out?
I read their white paper but I don't remember what those two supposed points were. I do know that there seems to be an unfounded fear of the word globalization. Probably has more to do with the ultra senioritis culture, and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. If that is one of those, that issue can be mitigated greatly through very simple work rules. The smartpref team actually wrote a letter that shows the unprofessionalism of the ASA guys. So I dont know what you hear on your side about them brushing them aside. The letter actually said the opposite! I can post it again if I can find it. As for seeing it work, the first bid with it worked so well and had such high participation rate that they ended up using the smartpref parallel bid as the actual bid. They will probably expand it to another base soon if not for next month.
