Dude read between the lines.... I know Delta could set their min to 10,000TT, 5000 TPIC, and a masters degree, and still have an overload of qualified applicants. So why do they set their "Minimums" just a tad north of companies like Skywest, express jet, eagle ect ect.. I was indirectly saying what Rickair777 just said, and it has everything to do with the original post. It's so they have the options of hiring management kids, minorities, and women, with very low time. The whole debate of preferential hiring could be solved if mainline would set their minimums to at least 4000TT 1000TPIC 4year degree, which would be well below the average applicants qualification.. I never saw a SWA or FedEx pilot who was a minority or female and thought they got lucky because of who they were, they met very strict minimums to even apply.
You got to stop thinking one-dimensionally, maybe an applicant has a ton of "time" working for flight safety or CAE as an instructor with multiple type ratings. There are a lot of situations we probably don't think of where someone may have relavent experience in similar areas. Having the mins there helps to allow for that (maybe c-17 driver?)...
