All yes, the ole "the world isn't fair bit". Do you have any idea what the world would be like if no one ever stood up for their rights, beliefs, fairness and all that? You absolutely can make a positive change on an organization or industry. Maybe not always in the short term, but I doubt we'd have things as good as we do today if people simply gave up.
