Regional airlines have a life cycle. It would appear that delta is quite educated about what makes a regional airline work.
In order for a regional airline to attract pilots they need one or two things. A quick upgrade and or new shiny bigger jets. The growth at pinnacle/comair/republic/skywest/psa/piedmont... has all stopped. The pay is crap for f/o's. Captains is still livable but far below that of the MD-80 pay.
So what is Delta to do? They love and i mean love cheap labor.
So start a new line of regional airlines. Compass and Go Jerks.
But very much like Comair. Pinnacle is going to be more expensive that Delta wants. Today they say that the current concessions are enough. But what about tomorrow? Delta will come out with some big lie about some surprise cost that wasn't known and close Pinnacle then give the airplanes to Silver airlines. Go Jerks will grow. People there will be happy for 10-15 years till it's their time to be put on the chopping block.
I guess my blabbering is leading to this. It doesn't matter what you vote at Pinnacle. Your days are numbered. If they are not then get that in writing.
No security = no vote.
On some points you are right. But I think that there is only so low they can go and they are looking for the bottom line. The consequences are going to hurt them in the long run for their short term gains. Look at this DGS fiasco. I've been in over 5 out stations where there is no help and no more than 2-3 people to work multiple flights at the same time, causing massive delays and rebookings, hotel and food fees for passengers. No one is going to work the ramp in the extreme cold of winter and smothering heat of summer for $7.25 an hour and no benefits. They will eventually run out of pilots who will work for minimum wage with no hope of a future in the career. Then they will go after their own labor groups.
