The problem with that at L-ASA is that scheduling wants to control each reserve pilot. In other words, when you're off and picking up trips, you may hit a 30 in 7 problem when they go to schedule you. Another example is contractually pilots can only work 6 days straight.
Reserves picking up trips on their day off isn't unheard of, and it isn't that hard. If you have 4 on, 2 off, then 4 on, picking up an out/back on 1 day off isn't going to cause any type 30/7 or 1/7 conflict.
Most other airlines allow reserves to pick up Extra Fly on hard days off. Some for straight time, some for time and a half. I've done it many times
