The UAL pilots have already established lives in the UAL bases so why move to NY or IAH to fly something we can fly already? The pilots who bid theses bases were mostly Texas commuters looking for an easier commute.
It is the same for LCAL pilots also. All of our "new" bases are staffed with furloughed LUAL pilots. So without those pilots the LCAL pilots couldn't staff those bases.
So we could do it the other way too. If LCAL had furloughed then the LUAL IAH base would be staffed full because the furloughed LCAL would bid to be there.
