Delta told Pinnacle that the biggest cost issue was that our pilot group was too senior. It's my understanding that just before this deal was crafted Delta had already decided to "Comair" us. With the assistance of Capt. Moak, Wychor was able to address their concern about our "longevity problem" by doing this deal. However I doubt very highly that he sat across the table from Richard Anderson, demanding the exact terms of this deal. Delta wanted us to be cheaper than Gojet, but Wychor wasnt willing to take us that far. Delta remained firm on the payrates we now have. We are now the third least expensive DCI airline behind Gojet and Compass, which by virtue of its flow-through agreement has a built in way to avoid a "longevity problem" like we have. In order to reconcile that problem without simply throwing everyone out on the street, this deal was made to try to get those guys off the list and avoid more stagnation in the future.

These were the terms that we were offered, all or nothing. Time had run out and we were told this is what Delta wanted or they would pull all funding and shut the airline down. We (I) voted to keep our jobs here for now while we wait for hiring elsewhere or perhaps be able to get hired at Delta through this process.
