Your comparison is from a consumer point of view, and as a consumer I agree it would wonderful to have unlimited free choices.
What CleeIB explained is that TapaTalk is a competing product to a a mobile forum app platform that IB owns. Additionally, to license TapaTalk to work on APC costs thousands of dollars (it's not free like the consumer app).
In my analogy, the point is that Micky-D's develops and promotes their own products instead of serving a competitors product. IB does the same.
