Just curious, what is the status and category of a furloughed pilot?
And has not years of service or longevity been considered in previous mergers?
I think I know who that guy is! ... totally agree, arbitration board will decide.
Status and category does not look at individual pilots. It looks at the fleets overall. It's essentially "what are the mix of aircraft type and seats being brought into the merger". If one airline had a 727 then those SO positions would be weighted in as well. It's independent of where individual people sit. That neutrals out the bidding inneficiency or posturing of one group because of an undesirable domicile or contract that has seniors pilots staying as FOs to avoid Capt reserve.
So if two airlines have the exact same fleets being merged, that would be a neutral factor. Wouldn't benefit either side, regardless if at one airline the junior Capt was exactly at 50% and at the other one he was at 70% because more senior pilots wanted to stay FO line holders and bypassed Capt because of commuting to very large domiciles or a brutal reserve system.
