Since I returned from Europe there has been consistent hiring at the so-called "regional" airlines non-stop. And hiring at the legacy and other operators of larger aircraft has increased.
Barring some sort of unforeseen circumstance, I would expect it to continue for years to come.
Depends upon:
- Age 65
- possible terror attack against aviation
- fuel prices going through the roof
- an economic recession/depression
As long as people continue to travel, there will be a need for pilots. Whether or not it is a good career choice is another question altogether.
I would do something different if I were starting over today.
