Speed- Yes, currently ATI only operates DC-8s. I used the 747 comparison because there aren't many DC-8 operators to compare to and I believe ATI pay much better than the ones that do (with the exception of UPS).
Flaps 9- There are two types of reserve;
1.) "hard reserve" is 16 scheduled days, which aren't usually consecutive- usually 8 on, 6 off. On hard reserve you usually either fly BAX or sit in the Toledo Plaza.
2.) "open reserve" you don't have a schedule at all and you usually stay home until you receive an assignment. Days off are earned at a ratio of 8 hours off for every 10 hours on per diem. So, if for example you were on duty for 10 days (240 hours) you would be guaranteed 8 days off (192 hours)
Retirements: with the pending sale I don't know what the new plan will be. Presently 401k with match.
BAX schedules: usually 8 on, 6 off if you start in Toledo. If you start in PDX or SJC it's more like 11 on, 10 off.
Pay: 13-28 day bid periods per year. 56 hour guarantee. 3.5 hour a day trip rig. Year one FO pay $51.19 hr. Year two $65.90 hr. Year three $77.30.
We've recently hired a lot of RJ guys and they seem quite happy with the transition. Good luck.
