That first trim on takeoff and that handle whacked my left shin about 4 times before I realize what was up.
Limped for a week after that sim session.
Great thread here.
First jet was a Sabreliner 80. ANC to MWH (Moses Lake) for a fuel stop, then on to TX. Flying with a salty retired BUFF Capt., we launched with no pax and on brake release I thought "Sh**!!"
She climbed like a home sick angel! I'll never forget center telling us.. cleared to FL410. I thought.. holy crap, I'm actually going to 41,000 feet!!!
In minutes we were there.
As we were leveling off I can distinctly remember being neck deep in charts, checklists, etc.
Capt. looked over at me and said in this grindy voice... Awww He##, we gotta go back to ANC!!
Pulling my head out of the charts I looked up, scared to death we had an emerg.... why???... WHY???

"Cause your still on the ramp!!!"
We both laughed our butts off over that... I was so far behind that bird, but it broke the ice and I was able to relax.
Then he told me to take a good look at the mts. I was actually at 410, the sky was clear (believe it or not), the view was amazing. The Good Lord provided an exceptional view for my first jet experience.
The second flight was the best though... we took off from MWH and my smile was directly proportional to the altitude..... I was in heaven!!
Now, seems every flight I have to ANC and back is always over solid overcast. But I still remember that first flight, every time I leave there.
Velocipede... dude I'm surprised that elev. crank didn't split your knee cap. or crush that shin! That HAD to have hurt!!!
Good thread!!
