I don't believe the majority of the "super senior types" want to be hired. They have their homes, base of choice, bid seniority, kids schools, wives jobs, local golf club membership, etc. etc. Why give it up for Major FO pay, lousy schedule, possible move, new schools for the kids, wife unemployed, etc.
They may take a pay cut staying where they are but that's better then the alternative. Single or married with no kids under age 45 - probably willing to move to the majors. Married, two kids in college, over 45, fifteen years equity in house, fishing boat docked on the great lakes - going to stay right where he is. Just got to tighten the belt.
How many are there ? Only HR could give us a break down.
