You have about summed up my reason for never returning to the airlines! I could give a crap about passengers anymore! What did it for me was some woman exclaiming "thanks for not crashing" as she deplaned! This was after a very bumpy approach and a greased crosswind landing!
If I don't go home alive then I have failed! I could give a flying s@@t about the 50 people who have some complaint about how they just defied the laws of physics and arrived at their destination in 1/4 of the time had they driven in a crazy snow storm!
So if she had stroked your ego and said "Nice landing Captain!(regardless of how many stripes on your shoulder) Those were challenging conditions! What was the crosswind component?" , then you'd still be with us?
