61.57 (c) (1) says you have to shoot the approaches in the same category, but not class. So yes, it would count for IFR currency.
And just to make it clear, "sole manipulator of the controls" doesn't have to mean you're the PIC. It just means you're the one doing the flying. So you can log it, either as SIC (if you qualify), or as nothing other than just your total time.
And by the way, where'd you find this guy that's willing to give someone a type rating for the Hawker as well as at least a year's job? I need to talk to this guy
