I've delayed numerous flights so that my crew can actually sit down for a decent meal. I've called the CP and flat out said "here's what we're doing and why". The only response I've ever received has been "ok. Sounds good. Just get back out as soon as you can." Heck I've done this just for the FA before when she looked like she was about to faint because she hasn't eaten all day.

FlyJSH - we work for the same company. Not sure why you felt you could never do this...
