Delta said they're not interested because they want the 777-300ER. Boeing wouldn't budge on 777 price, and Delta wouldn't budge on not wanting more 747-400's. Boeing then offered the 11 or so 747-400's at prices less than half of the 777's, and (from what he's saying), Delta accepted. He says we're absolutely stealing the airplanes.

My 2 cents.

"Rubber on the ramp."

The 747 line is running at overcapacity. This means they are making more planes than they are selling. In the very near term, they will have to decide to park the line for awhile or produce unsold jets.

Personally I'd like to see some 747-800s. We need the cargo and people lift in certain markets.

I'd also like to see some 777-300s. Maybe Air France will sell us some of theirs.

Big widebodies produce jobs, advancement and hiring. The only thing the 777 has over the 747 is the ultra long haul 4 man cockpit. That is more jobs, advancement and hiring.

Edit: Oh yeah one more thing. Are these replacement jets for the 787? Just kidding, the fences will be down before they show up.
