Not matter. The old CAL and old UAL hiring processes are gone. New hires are coming to the merged UAL with a new process. They will just happen to be trained on the CAL fleet to start their career at UAL.
You're saying that internal references will not be of any use? What about internal letters of recommendation from pilots who you have flown with?
I always understood internal recs to be valuable.
