Yes! Supply and demand. How many people are willing and qualified to fly turbine aircraft for 30/40k a year? Apparently enough right now. If mainline contracts eased scope more, we'd see even larger aircraft being flown for 30k/40k because there *is* a supply of qualified and willing pilots to do that flying.
Get away from supply and demand (scarcity power) and you will get confused.
