It's going to be painfully clear this summer for junior reserves in large categories and ALL reserves in larger ones. Things like golden days are going to gain sudden importance.
Basically we sold ALV plus 15 for a 2 hr increase in monthly line guarantee during the slow season. Yes we got a substantial increase in guarantee during the busy months but through use of a yellow slip a pilot had the OPTION to work more if he/she desired anyway so it was rediculously stupid IMO. There are money people and QOL people. The ALV +15 OPTION satisfied both but alas we sold it for cheap. We sold even more valuable seniority enhancement through the hiring that would be taking place as well. Think of how much more lucrative an AE with upgrades and category openings (options...remember that word?) is than displacements and 2 hr bump in guarantee.
