Very strongly disagree. You could work around that in 1983, but not 2013.
It might make sense to delay the degree if your time and money is better spent on flight training and time building in the near term. But have a plan for how that is all going to work out, and stick to it. You don't want to be an 8000 hour regional CA with wife, kids, house and racing to finish a degree on class at a time before your airline liquidates in Ch.7.
