Regardless of the policy, and we are unlimited by the way as someone mentioned, you still have to get past the gate agent. Make the walk, check the gate for fellow commuters.
Not to keep adding to it, but also when you are faced with a couple of non commuter crew members and don't give a flying arse about it, rare, but possible.
