Seriously, a slasher? How over-dramatic and crybaby-ish can flight attendants get? Swiss Army knives, Leathermans, etc were commonplace pre-9/11, and I don't recall hearing of any slashing stories. If someone does get drunk, crazy, etc, and start running up and down the aisles with a knife, I'm pretty sure the other 100+ passengers on the aircraft will intervene, flight 93 style.
